Definitely a marvelous weekend over here. We were so blessed to spend the holiday yesterday with both of our families!
Apparently, the Easter bunny still comes when you’re 27 years old. And he brings high quality stuff from Sarris! I found this basket on our dining room table yesterday morning when I got up early to do a quick workout.
PS, the mini Cadbury eggs are the way to go – much better ratio of filling-to-chocolate. Luckily, I had planned a basket for Adam too:
I was kind of curious about the Reese’s pieces eggs and Twix eggs – yum!
We headed to Mass at Adam’s parents’ parish, then to their house for brunch. A traditional Polish meal, with foods that had been blessed the previous day, about 10 different types of eggs and lots of meats. This was before most of the food was put on the table!
And there were sweets:
Adam’s mother has a beautiful collection of hand painted eggs that his aunt (who lives in Poland) makes. She gave us some for our wedding but we forgot to pull them out to decorate this year.
We stopped at home to get Lexi and the desserts that I made, then we were off to my parents’ house for dinner.
Our first “family” photo since getting Lexi – she’s all about the camera! Mom set a beautiful table, as always.
Dad requested that I post a photo of the ham on the blog – it was definitely larger than both of the dogs.
It was served with rolls, asparagus, cheesy potato casserole, and pineapple sauce and carrots.
And for me (and others) there was salmon with homemade balsamic glaze (very fancy) and three bean salad. Perfection.
Next up – dessert! I made carrot cake cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and decorated some with sprinkles and some with nuts.
And a cake that took up 4+ hours of my Saturday… flour-less three layer chocolate and toasted hazelnut meringue with fresh whipped cream.
Definitely worth the time and effort! When my Nana asked if there were any more courses, the Peeps were passed…
I love sugar and I love marshmallows, but I’m just not a Peep fan – are you?
Hope you and your families had a great holiday together, too! xo
